I took the plunge and submitted five pieces (two screenprints and three photographs) to the Adult Arts & Crafts competition at the 2015 Virginia State Fair. I’ll admit I was a bit apprehensive when I visited on the 3rd day of the fair, anxious to discover how I’d – ahem – “faired.”
I’ve made it past the jury and will be showing some screenprints and photographs at the 2011 VMRC Juried Art Exhibition in Harrisonburg, Virginia. The show runs from May 5 until June 30, 2011.
Two of my pieces were selected to appear as part of the Corcoran College of Art + Design’s Continuing Education Juried Exhibition. My photograph of Eastern State Penitentiary “Cell II” and my screenprint of a county fair rooster “El Gran Gallo” will be among a number of other prints, photographs, stoneware, paintings, and other works of art at the Corcoran’s Gallery 31. The exhibition runs from November 18 to December 13, 2009.
Exploring aspects of color and black & white digital photography with Alex Jamison, NEA Visual Artist Fellowship recipient and instructor at the Corcoran College of Art + Design in Washington, DC.
Studying photographic composition at Alexandira’s Art League School with Jim Steele, a fine art photographer in the tradition of Ansel Adams and Edward Weston.
